Robert Smith/Smith’s South-Central Sales Company, LLC Named SBA Small Business Person of the Year on May 2nd. The company (formerly Smith Oil Company) has grown to become a full-service outdoor power equipment distributor, serving the states of Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Mississippi and Texas.
Robert, the son of the start-up owner, runs the business with his sister Rose. They are well respected in Webster Parish as well as having established a history of excellent customer service across the south-central United States.
Founded in 1972 in Springhill, Louisiana, the company currently operates a modern 30,00-square-foot office and distribution facility employing 30 people in rural Webster
Smith’s South-Central provides more than 40 years of personalized customer care with superior order fill rates and professional courtesy. Robert and Rose have extended their father’s small business development to increasingly impressive dimensions and show promise to continue a winning combination of small business dedication, hard work, organization and superior customer service. The Louisiana Small Business Development Center at LSU Shreveport has provided consulting services to this company on warehouse expansion and process flow improvement.
The company has been and continues to be an exemplary small business, well-representing Northwest Louisiana and the Shreveport area businesses.
